Nutrisystem vs. Noom: Which Diet Works Best?

When it comes to hottest diet program on the planet, two names have risen to the top in 2024: Noom and Nutrisystem.

While these programs offer two very different ways to lose weight, their popularity can’t be denied.

With so many people successfully putting Noom and Nutrisystem to work for them, the only question left may be which one is going to work best for you.

To help you decide, we’re going to highlight some of the key differences between Noom and Nutrisystem, and then we’ll take a look at each one on their own.

By the end of this comparison guide, you will hopefully know whether Noom or Nutrisystem is going to meet your needs better.

Diet Delivery vs. Coaching App

The biggest difference between Noom and Nutrisystem?

Nutrisystem is a full meal delivery program. That means they delivery you a 28-day supply of meals and snacks every month. In the most basic sense, you eat their food, get a moderate amount of exercise, and lose weight. Of course, there’s a bit more to it than that, which we’ll cover below, but for the most part that’s how you can expect the diet to work.

Noom, on the other hand, doesn’t provide any food. That means, you’re on your own to prepare your meals throughout the day. They do, however, guide on how to meal prep, what foods to make, and help your track your weight and fitness using their app. They also connect you with a coach, who will help you reach your goals.

Either way, both of these diets have been found to help customers lose weight [1][2], it just comes down to the type of program you prefer.

If you like the idea of of a done-for-you program that involves very little meal prep and grocery shopping, then Nutrisystem may be what you’ve been looking for.

If you prefer to make most of your own meals, then Noom is worth considering.

Pricing Comparison: Which One is Cheaper?

price comparison

This is where things get tricky. On the surface, Nutrisystem would appear to be a lot more expensive than Noom, but when you consider that they’re providing you the majority of your meals for the month, that cost seems quite affordable.

If you opt for their monthly plan, Noom costs around $39 per month. By comparison, Nutrisystem starts at about $230 per month, but again, that’s for a full 28-day supply of food, as well as all of the other benefits they offer, including their free NuMi app.

I would think that Nutrisystem would end up being cheaper than Noom, when I consider what I typically spend at the grocery store. Nutrisystem’s food pencils out to cost just over $8 per day, and that covers around 5 meals and snack per day. I would be hard pressed to eat for under $10 per day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Of course, on Nutrisystem you’ll also have a few flex meals per month, as well as fresh produce you’ll have to purchase, but even with those additional expenses, I would think Nutrisytem’s program would still end up being cheaper.

Ultimately, the cost shouldn’t factor in as much as which type of diet you prefer, though, so I would recommend letting that be your main guide.

Now, let’s take a look at each of these diet plans in more detail, to help give you a better idea of what they’re really all about.
